IPhone 6 and IPhone 6 Plus Launched

iPhone 6

The much awaited iteration of Apple iPhone smartphones, the iPhone 6 launched sticking to all the rumors it was subjected to in the past few months. Apple finally decided to make a significant change in its design theory, the most noticable and talked about being the upgraded 4.7 inch display as compared to the 4 inch display in the previous generation iPhone 5 and 5s. The presence of rounded edges remind us of the iPod touch.

Basics

4.7-inch, 750 by 1334 display, 326 ppi with 1300:1 contrast

16, 64 or 128GB storage

A8 processor (64-bit)

8MP iSight camera (rear) with 1.5 micron pixels and optical image stabilization, 1.2 megapixel FaceTime camera (front)

MSRP: 16GB for $199 on contract/$649 contract free; 64GB for $299 on contract/$749 contract free; 128GB for $399 on contract/$849 contract free

Pros

The screen size is ideal for daily usage as well as media and gaming

The rounded edges make it easier to hold and use.

Cons

Lack of customization in IOS remains.

Lack of a full HD 1080p display.

iPhone 6 Plus

Apple launched not one, but two premium smartphones today, and the iPhone 6 Plus is the one many probably were skeptical even existed just a few short months ago. With a screen size measuring 5.5-inches across the diagonal, iPhone 6 Plus is ready to compete against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note series, LG G3 and other 'phablets' present in the market.

Basics

5.5-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, 401 ppi with 1300:1 contrast

16, 64 or 128GB storage

A8 processor (64-bit)

8MP iSight camera (rear) with 1.5 micron pixels and optical image stabilization, 1.2 megapixel FaceTime camera (front)

MSRP: 16GB for $299 on contract/$749 contract free; 64GB for $399 on contract/$849 contract free; 128GB for $499 on contract/$949 contract free

Pros

Larger screen is great for productivity and media consumption

Battery and camera noticeably better than iPhone 6

Cons

Not a one-handed device for most

Priced above even the usual premium segment

Sony Xperia Z3

Sony has been launching a lot of devices thanks to their aggressive market strategy. But replacing flagships within 6 months is something we have not seen done by any other brand.

Xperia Z3 is the latest phone in their high selling Z series smartphones, successor to Xperia Z, Z1 and Z2.

It's been 9 months since I bought my Z1 and look how far Sony has reached. The lack of significant changes has made it a not so exciting smartphone now but the slow and steady improvements are worth all the praise.

Basics

5.2 inches Display 1080 by 1920 pixels 424 ppi.
16/32 GB, 3GB RAM
20.7 MP Camera with LED flash
Quad Core 2.5 ghz processor.
MSRP - £549.95

Pros

Large bright display good for gaming.
20.7 MP camera takes superb pictures.

Cons

The design has no solid changes compared to previous generations.
The upper and lower bezels make it a comparatively large device for its screen size.
